Lisa Schott is the President and Principal Acoustical Consultant at Quietly Making Noise, LLC, in Oviedo, Florida. She provides expertise and innovative problem solving for a wide range of acoustical issues. Services include noise assessment, design, analysis, modeling, testing, and troubleshooting as well as expert witness services and general acoustical consulting. She has over 20 years experience in energy and building construction industries, with most of her work in acoustics and noise control. This has included participation in public meetings and hearings to defend the noise control design and acoustical impact assessment for large projects. Lisa has extensive experience in industrial acoustical design of power plants, substations, gas pipeline compressor stations, multi-family residential buildings including apartments and condominiums, office and convention buildings, OSHA work place noise requirements, private residences, and many other industrial, commercial, and residential facilities. She has designed hundreds of silencers, acoustical enclosures, and barrier walls and has been involved with research in active noise control. She was responsible for saving nearly $2 million in the cost of noise control for a 150 MW combined cycle power plant project while creating a design which was completely inaudible at residences located 250 feet away from the site boundary. Last year, Lisa successfully invented and now has a patent pending on Shut-Eye™ Acoustical Shutters and Blinds for windows and doors. Installations in the field have proven that the Shut-Eye™ design is the industry-leading solution for exterior noise issues such as traffic, aircraft, and urban activities. The design is advantageous for hotels, condominiums, apartments, homes, offices, and military bases. Lisa has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and is a member of the Acoustical Society of America, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Air and Waste Management Association, Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando, the Florida and National Associations of Home Builders, and the Society of American Military Engineers. Lisa serves on the Board of Directors of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, founded by the original Mercury 7 Astronauts, and she is the Co-Chair of their Scholarship Committee, a member of the Executive Advisory Committee, and Founder and President of the Astronaut Scholars Honor Society, their alumni group.
